Sonifying the Arctic is a unique approach to using AI and autoencoders to harmonize large datasets in service of creating a data sonification installation. The system accepts data from a variety of field stations that measure weather and atmospheric data and compare the data to acoustic survey sites across the region. The results of this data are then used to create an acoustic soundprint. The system can be used to create a live rendered installation, an interactive software interface, or create a fixed data sonification.
This system is a collaboartion between Miguel Crozzoli + Garrison Gerard and is supported by the Intelligent Instrument Lab at the University of Iceland.
